My Home Was Here Created in collaboration with textile artist Maria Motyleva, this sculptural vessel is part of My Home Was Here, a body of work that emerged from the eponymous performance presented in Lisbon in 2023. The series was later exhibited at Gallery Na Montra in Caxias, Portugal, in 2024. The work reflects on home as a shifting psychological and emotional landscape rather than a fixed place. It considers the experience of displacement, migration, loss, and the continuous reconstruction of identity through memory, ritual, and material. Home becomes something that is carried, imagined, mourned, and reinvented. Bringing together ceramic and textile, the sculpture inhabits the space between vessel and body, object and memory. The soft textile elements appear to grow from the ceramic form, suggesting both protection and vulnerability, permanence and impermanence. The vessel is understood not simply as a container, but as a metaphor for the body itself—holding traces of personal history, absence, and transformation. Rather than offering a definitive image of home, the work invites multiple readings, asking how belonging can persist when geography changes, and whether home is ultimately a place, a relationship, a memory, or a continuous act of becoming.
